Hi, we found out the impact js doesnt work in samsung galaxy s4 inside android app(as a webview). It shows dark page after it loads. Similar also when try to download latest version 1.22 and test directly. Is there anything that we can do to fix it?

While Android's "Browser" (which is used for the WebView, I believe) is quite slow for Canvas and generally just bad, it should still be able to run Impact games just fine. You have to disable sound and maybe care for some other things, but it should definitely run.

Do you see any error messages in the log?

Also, is there any reason why you can't use CocoonJS if you want to have your game bundled as an App anyway?

I ran about 10 impact games in my S4 Browser. I then ran Biolab Disaster on it (CocoonJS Wrapped) and everything ran like a dream.

I won't be able to test an APK not sent through cocoon until I get home, as I'm in the office. I certainly didn't have any issues on my Note2, Nexus7, Kindle Fire, or S3. I can't see any issues on the S4 off the top of my head.

Nope: He's absolutely Dominic. When you try to wrap a native app in just PhoneGap, it fails miserably. It's not phonegap because I tried running a Sencha Touch app wrapped in phonegap to make sure. It's completely Impact and how it reacts. I'll try to pull some error logging for you.

That should have read that he's absolutely correct Dominic...hehe.

Ok, SOME of my phonegap apps are working on the S4. It's something in the 4.2.2 web update that has broken something. Looking at Stack Overflow, it's getting more an more complaints.

There doesn't seem to be a bug in Impact, but rather 4.4.2 and its implementation specifically on the S4. Sucks, but Cocoon offers a valid viable alternative to you.

Additional Testing...

Running a phonegap game in Crafty.js ends up with the same results. It's not Impact.

And, just to close the loop on this, I've wrapped three games in progress in Cocoon and everything works great on them.

Impact is fine.

Hello, I met the same problem that the canvas part of my PhoneGap app failed to run on Galaxy S4. It looks similar like your problem described in this link: http://impactjs.com/forums/help/cant-run-on-galaxy-s4.

I'm not using impact.js but with create.js. (Anyway the problem is on canvas, so I think it doesn't matter which library I use.)

I tried to use the Android Web Browser to visit my html5 app. The canvas part looks fine. But when I use the Android WebView (In PhoneGap) to run my game. The canvas just looks like a big rect with colors blinking on it (nothing correct rendered).

I tried to find some information about wrong update in Android 4.2.2 from stackoverflow, but did not find anything....

I wonder how you fixed this problem at the end?
Or is there any information on this problem on stackoverflow?

Many thanks!

I am experiencing an odd issue that I can't locate yet with Galaxy S4's. I am receiving reports that anyone with an S4 cannot run my game as an APK made with CocoonJS. It is crashing at load screen.

It is located here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ascendedarcade.mutantzombiemonsters2

Users with newer devices such as my S4 Active are fine. Many older phones and tablets are also running fine. The game is running beautifully on my 4 year old motorola and Kindle Fire. The S4 issue is very odd for me...
