After almost 2 years of work, we finally release the first actual Demo of CrossCode.

Play it here:

www.cross-code.com

About the Game:

CrossCode is a retro-inspired 2D Action RPG set in the distant future.

You follow a player called Lea as she logs into CrossWorlds - a fictional MMO of the far future. Lea is quite the strange player: she can't speak and she doesn't remember anything about herself. Yet still, Lea starts exploring CrossWorlds, meets other players and overcomes a multitude of challenges all along the official track of the game. That is, until the past catches up with her.

CrossCode combines features of the Action-Adventure and RPG genre, delivering both, a great variety of puzzles and an engaging, fast-paced combat system with plenty of options for character growth.

How it was made

CrossCode is originally based on impact.js, but we modified the engine to an extend where most of the original source code has been rewritten by now. For instance, we rewrote the physics engine, the rendering and added a whole lot of features.

Still, impact.js was a great way to start so we don't regret buying the engine at all.

You can follow the progress of the game on our blog:

We sometimes also have technical entries which might be interesting for other HTML5 game developers.

Looking forward to your feedback!

Amazing job. I really love the intro - it's exciting to the see the possibility. With all your accumulated wisdom, if you had to remake the game, could you do it in half the time?

The sound effects are really nice, and the text placement and everything else is perfect.
