Just wondering if you guys have seen any issues with Chrome (10 and 11) with linux distros like Ubuntu or MacOS. I've been getting lots of reports that both of the games I have created so far are crashing during the load screen with that combination of browser and OS. My few tries to reproduce it from Ubuntu natively or from a virtual machine seem to work fine. I haven't been able to produce any JS errors as well. I was going to start whittling away at things like audio to see what the issue is but first I need a platform for testing that it crashes on. People have told me the games will not run on Google's CR-48 netbook thingy.

The games in question:

Just a little update, now that I have these platforms to test on. It always occurs during the pre-load meter of the game at various points. If I keep going back and refreshing the page, occasionally it will make it through load and then the game works perfect. No JS errors are ever produced so I am not sure what it is.

My next step is start removing things to see what gets rid of the issue. I think the first thing I will remove is the audio...

yep start with audio

i'm on a MacOSX, Chrome 11 tends to have the snap problem. Chrome 10 was good.

Thanks fugufish,

I will report back with updates on what I remove and what seems to make it start working!

Well if you go to the URLs for both of my games now, the default version no longer has sound. They both now load fine for me in linux+chrome. For now I have a link underneath the game to the version with sound.

I would love it if you could tell me if they load or not from MacOS!

tried both your games with Chrome 11 + Mac OSX, works fine!

Thanks for testing it! Well I guess the issue is with the pre-loading of my sounds. Again, if I got it through the pre-loading meter, the game worked fine. For now I took out all sound to make it playable but I'd like to understand the issue more. Biolab, Private Joe, etc have sound and work just fine in linux and Safari, wondering if I was I just using 'too large' or 'too many' sound files?

What's weird is it always worked great in Windows+Chrome, just not MacOS/Linux+Chrome.

I'm getting an Aww, snap! in my game under Windows Google Chrome. Did you manage to find a work around for the crash? Very frustrating and the only way I can now get it working is to disable music and sounds.

I can confirm an earlier version of my game (I thought my latest changes may have caused the issue) has stopped working in the current version of Windows Chrome as well with the Aww, snap! error. Very very very frustrating.

I have also found that a game I create as recently as last November is now causing the "Aw snap!" message on Windows Google Chrome where as it works fine if I preview it using the in-built Komodo Edit browser.

It must be down to the Audio - can't think what else it would be. Very annorying and makes me want to go back to native game development :(

Looks like the latest version of Chrome has fixed the Aw, snap! issue :)

It's not coming up and I'm on Version 26.0.1410.43 m.
