Sprite Lamp looks terrific and I'm wondering if there are any existing ways to use it with HTML5 / impactjs - is there any existing normal mapping or custom shader features or plugins being worked on by anyone out there?

Sprite Lamp looks like an easy way to create assets with depth and lighting, check it out (kickstarter campaign):

Sprite Lamp is really unique and cool. A creative idea to add normal maps to 2D drawings like that.

I'm not sure how it would work in Impact except for allowing you to pre-render your sprites with different lighting, and then use different sprite sheets based on levels. For example, a level with lava glowing from below would use the sprite sheet lit from below. When outside, you'd use the sprite sheet lit from above.

With some work you could write a plugin that treats an entity as a light source, and then based on the distance and angle to the player, swap out the appropriate angles to get a live effect. But the sprite sheets would have to be created for every angle.
