I was wondering if there will be support to copy and paste areas from a layer. This can be very helpful for more complex objects that need certain tiles to be combined in order to create an object.

You can select an area of your map (or the tileset) by holding Shift and dragging the mouse. This selection will become your new "brush" that you can paint anywhere. It's essentially copy+paste :)
