I have a space invaders type game. When the enemies hit the bottom of the screen a loud sound is played. Afterwards the sounds for destroying enemies are much quieter than before. The sounds gradually return to normal volume provided that another enemy doesn't hit the bottom of the screen.

I'm assuming this is some sort of sound mixing issue. Any thoughts on how to fix?

Solved: I used a sound that was quieter to begin with and that seemed to do the trick.
