I've finished integrating touch support for windows 8. In my build, I have both a joystick and buttons on screen so that the player can perform various tasks, such as shooting, switching weapons, and activating powerups.
Much of this came from Jesse Freeman's excellent Win8 Bootstrap kit, but I had to adapt quite a bit of it to fit my needs.
