Sounds like they just used their own embedded browser. I am planning on releasing the game I'm working on to the appstore, mostly to go through the experience and will just use AppMobi. It's just nice to see a real game doing it now. Very cool.

hmm seems like the guys from lostdecade are prototyping something with ImpactJS (based on the comments from the link above).

Looks great. But you still do have to build a cocoa app a little bit, right? I don't know objective C at all, so even that seems a little challenging. I wish there was as phonegap for Mac apps.
I tried Tide SDK and it worked once I disabled sound, but it was super slow. The SDK hasn't been updated in 2 years.
Ejecta works great but only for iOS as far as I know
