I'd like to use these Lost Garden tiles to prototype an Impact game:

that's pretty doable!
how I would approach it:
grass , water and marble floors as a tileset
bush,stone,beetle,players and key with a positive z-index
as for the players moving up and down the slopes, don't think that's doable yet.

The slopes are 'hackable' but to make them smooth walking would be harder

I was thinking the tiles themselves would have to be entities in this case.

@subelsky - too much work to make the tiles into entites. If you do that anyways, it's going to require a lot of tweaking . Issues like: how do I make sure that the tiles and players don't bounce off each other? Lots of stuff to take care off.

Couldn't you just make the slopes entities instead of all the tiles?

yes, I could do that - was just wondering if there was a good way to stack background tiles, or associate a "height" with them
