Hi guys,

I'm a web designer who's just getting started making games. I'm wondering if Impact (and Weltmeister) are set up to handle isometric tiles/sprites.

I want to make a Diablo style real-time action RPG game. I'm wondering if Impact is a good choice for this out of the box, or if it'll require custom code to handle something other than top-down or side-scrolling perspective.

Thanks in advance, Impact looks SWEET!

Hi Adam!

To quote myself from an earlier topic:
There's no built-in method for drawing isometric tile maps in Impact yet.

You can certainly implement your own IsoBackgroundMap class, though. The article you linked seems to be a good starting point for something like this.

(I really need to implement a search function for this forum :))

You could, however, do a top-down style action rpg type game. Its just that instead of viewing down and at an angle, it would just be down and facing forward. Somewhat similar to the 'old school' rpg look.

Dominic do you plan on adding this to Impact?

I came across the AVES engine, which looks perfect for what I want to build. Unfortunately they got bought by Zenga so no chance of it being released now...

If you were to add isometric to Imact it would be AWESOME! Check out the video of AVES:

(oh and forum search would be really great! Also great would be the ability to subscribe to a thread to get email notifications of new replies. Not complaining though!)
