When you get error messages and want help solving a problem, one of the best things you can do is share what the error message said.

Sorry about that mate, this is what happens when I click XAMPP control panel, and then press apache start, right now all it saids is atempting to start apache service.. Before it was saying,
12:44:17 AM [mysql] Error: MySQL shutdown unexpectedly.
12:44:17 AM [mysql] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
12:44:17 AM [mysql] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
12:44:17 AM [mysql] Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
12:44:17 AM [mysql] the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
12:44:17 AM [mysql] If you need more help, copy and post this
12:44:17 AM [mysql] entire log window on the forums

And when I do press logs nothing shows up on notepad, please if you can help me I'd really appreciate it.

Also I can access my level editor through weltmeister however it's just blank, and there are no options like I see in other videos and stuff? What is going on?

Personally on windows I've used:

http://www.easyphp.org/

and

http://www.wampserver.com/en/

Which both provided a really easy setup and I was up and running will a full XAMP stack. I switched to WampServer with Windows 7 because EasyPHP had a few issues with it. Its probably worked out by now. I'm still using WampServer on windows 8.

So if you want to try an alternative... those are my suggestions.

I'd recommend this one as well.

I seem to recall a similar problem when I first set up. I was using win7 ultimate. I think another program was running on the port that my server wanted to use. I believe the program was IIS server or Skype (or both). Funny thing is, I had never set IIS up -it seemed to be on by default.

Stackoverflow has some info on finding out what programs are running on specific ports. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1960750/how-to-find-which-program-is-using-port-80-in-windows

Pull up the console of the browser (Chrome, hit f12) and see what errors are being thrown.

Edit: I see you've double posted your question.

How are you opening the level editor? Are you opening a web browser and typing something that looks like "http://localhost/weltmeister.html" into the address bar? It might also look like "http://localhost:8080/weltmeister.html".

If the URL begins with "file:" then it is not opening the level editor through your web server and it will not work.

If XAMPP is causing you too much pain try the impact-dev-server. This step might be a little involved since nodejs can have problems on Windows. After it installs you should be able to just open a CMD window, change directories into the folder where you unzipped Impact, and type "impact-dev-server". Assuming it doesn't spit out a bunch of errors you can then open your web browser, type "http://localhost:8080/weltmeister.html" into the address bar and get a working Weltmeister.

If all those instructions are gibberish to you, please let us know.
