I am really interested in trying Impact. I haven't written any games before but this looks like the perfect way to get started. I have two problems with the 99$ price however. First, I don't know if I'll actually use the library, because I might not enjoy writing a game. Therefore, 99$ is a large risk. If it were 20$ or something, I wouldn't mind buying it and winding up not using it. The second problem is I don't know if Impact is even the right library for me. There is no way to evaluate it, so I am hesitant to drop 99$ without even trying it. I really wish I could mess around with Impact, and maybe make my first game, but 99$ is realllly expensive. I bet you would sell 2000% more copies if you dropped the price by 80%. Nice site though, I like the design : )

Well, I think you can get a good impression of the engine through all the example source code, documentation and the games made with it. I understand that you want to try it out before you buy, but offering a "trial" version is just not feasible for me at the moment. Sorry.

If you buy Impact and you figure out that it's not what you wanted for any reason, I can always give you a refund.

You are getting this a LOT aren't you dominic? ;)

My suggestion: do some videos of what the process is like to develop a game in Impact. The IDE, putting together a quick demo game. That sort of thing is pretty common and I think would make a lot of the people that want a demo actually pretty happy.

That way it's not "sight unseen" and you have an idea of how everything works (which documentation and source code don't really provide insight into - they are technical, not process, examples)

What's weird is that he is still getting this. It was one thing when the forum wasn't up and the only games you saw were dominic's. But now you've got other people throwing up games, and three examples from a game jam which are games coded in under 48 hours.

I purchases it in the dark, cuz even if Dominic was selling vaporware that only worked for him, it was worth a shot, given that the other javascript game libraries are pieces of sh!t compared to this one. And I stand by that statement even more now in light of the Box2D integration dominic just did.

I agree with MyShuitings 100%. I was looking around at other libraries and was not happy with any of them. I then got a tweet about this new one called Impact. So I checked it out, saw Dominic's examples and demo videos, read a bit of the documentation was really saw this was a solid product.

@teen, there are more then a couple people on these forums singing Impacts praises, you can play the games and read over the docs. There is more then enough of information and examples available to look over and get a good sense of the product.

Personally I think its the top of the list for what is available today for both free and paid JS game engines.
